I was horrified one day after looking at the ingredients in “healthy” granola! It had stuff in there that I couldn’t even pronounce. I don’t claim to be the smartest person on the block, but the ingredients were just ridiculous. So I went on a mission to find a “real” healthy granola recipe. I never knew how easy granola was to make until I tried my hand at it. Not only is it easier and cheaper, but it is much healthier. You can also add any extras you want to this wonderful granola recipe. My family eats it by the handful, as cereal, on yogurt and on ice cream. It is the perfect snack!
Ingredients for Easy Peasy Delicious Granola:
1/3 cup Honey
1/4 cup Coconut oil
3 cups Oats (can be quick oats, steel cut oats, or regular oats)
1 cup Sliced almonds
You could also add dried fruit and/or any other kind of nuts to this recipe.
How to make Easy Peasy Delicious Granola:
Preheat the oven to 350˚F.
Melt the honey and coconut oil in a small sauce pan over medium heat.
*Be careful handling this mixture as it is very hot.
Pour the oats and almonds in a bowl (add dried fruit or other nuts here also).
Pour the honey-coconut oil mixture over the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon, making sure all of the dry ingredients are evenly coated.
Spread the mixture in an even layer on a non greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350˚F for 12-14 minutes.
Take the granola out of the oven and let it cool completely.
After the granola is cooled, use a spatula to loosen and break up the granola.
Spoon into an airtight container and store in a cool dry place.
I store my granola in mason jars and keep them in my pantry.
